Celebrate Take Your Pet to Work Days with Neuse River Vets!

At Neuse River Vets in Wendell NC, we love celebrating our furry friends and the joy they bring into our lives. Two special days in June allow us to share that joy with our colleagues: Take Your Cat to Work Day on June 17th and Take Your Dog to Work Day on June 21st. These fun observances not only promote pet companionship but also bring a sense of happiness and stress relief to the workplace. Let’s explore the origins of these special days and some fun ideas to celebrate them.

The Origins of Take Your Pet to Work Days

Take Your Cat to Work Day was created to highlight the unique bond between cats and their owners and to promote cat adoption. Launched by Pet Sitters International (PSI), this day aims to showcase how cats can positively impact our lives and encourage people to consider adopting from shelters.

Take Your Dog to Work Day also originated from PSI, starting in 1999. This day celebrates the companionship of dogs and aims to encourage dog adoption from humane societies, animal shelters, and breed rescue clubs. By bringing dogs into the workplace, employees can share the joy of their furry friends and demonstrate the special bond between humans and dogs.

Fun Ideas to Celebrate

  1. Pet Parade: Host a pet parade where employees can show off their cats or dogs. Create a small runway and let each pet have their moment in the spotlight.
  2. Pet Photo Contest: Encourage employees to submit photos of their pets at work. Create categories like “Best Dressed,” “Funniest Pose,” and “Most Likely to Be Employee of the Month.”
  3. Pet Play Area: Designate an area in the office as a pet play zone with toys, treats, and comfy spots for lounging. This gives pets a place to relax and socialize.
  4. Pet-Friendly Potluck: Organize a potluck lunch where employees bring in treats for both humans and pets. Include pet-safe snacks and ensure all pet treats are vet-approved.
  5. Pet Adoption Drive: Partner with a local animal shelter or rescue organization to host an adoption drive at your office. This can help pets find loving homes and raise awareness about adoption.
  6. Pet Wellness Session: Invite a veterinarian or pet care expert to give a talk on pet health and wellness. This can be a great opportunity for employees to learn more about taking care of their pets.
  7. Pet Yoga: Organize a pet-friendly yoga session. Yoga with pets can be a fun and relaxing activity that both employees and their furry friends can enjoy.

Benefits of Bringing Pets to Work

Bringing pets to work can offer numerous benefits:

  • Stress Relief: Pets can help reduce stress and create a more relaxed work environment.
  • Increased Morale: Having pets around can boost overall morale and job satisfaction.
  • Encourages Physical Activity: Pets need regular breaks, which encourages employees to take walks and move around.
  • Promotes Team Bonding: Pets can be great conversation starters and help foster better relationships among colleagues.

Take Your Cat to Work Day and Take Your Dog to Work Day are wonderful opportunities to share the joy and companionship of pets with your colleagues.
